Nice!!!
You’re cruising!
I was - I definitely set it aside each time I hit a new section, but eventually kept coming back when I was in a learning mood and it adds up!
You did really well for a first sock, the second one will be easier and after a few socks it completely makes sense. Just one warning, it’s addictive!!
Bummer about your weekend but yeah you for the progress
You guys, we will need to start 2025 with a sockalong or something. I have so much sock yarn…what would motivate you to make socks in 2025 or are there patterns people want to try to do as a group again?
I have done so many plain vanilla socks, I want to do a Scandinavian red / white pattern. I will probably start after Christmas. Is anyone interested in doing colourwork?
Good thing you’ve moved back to a colder climate @AIMR , you must be glad you didn’t get rid of all this sock yarn
I wouldn’t mind trying colorwork. I’ve heard mosaic knitting isn’t too difficult. But, vanilla is all I’ve managed so far. I haven’t even tried cables.
I would love trying it…maybe the more experienced people can give some tips or can show progress shots!
I printed out the Drops pattern you linked…I can do it in crochet so I feel confident to tackle it with socks with some help!
I’ve not done colourwork in socks, but I have done it in flat knitting. It’s very easy, the most challenging part is probably the counting, not the knitting itself.
I can’t figure out how to carry the yarn without it being too loose or too tight…I think that just takes practice…since it is on the leg part, it should be easier to count and to control the loops…right? I don’t really know, but I want to try.
I would try colorwork. I’ve done it in hats here, and it wasn’t bad.
WOW! Now I really want to try it! That hat is gorgeous!
What do you think is the hardest part? Like how do you keep the different colors of yarn from tangling? I have a thing I wear on my finger to keep the colors separate but the balls of yarn still tangle…
Thanks!
I know some folks make littler bobbins of the colors to keep them from tangling but apparently I am more willing to risk frequent untangling sessions over working in more ends
Tension is probably the main challenge. Like you say, keeping the floats floaty enough without being too loose or catchy. But you get the hang of it pretty quickly.
Congratulations
I love them! How cute to make them “match/not-match”!
They’re wonderful! Way to go!
