CLOSED: Nerd Games - Fall 2021

@LovelyMiss - As I live and breath! There you are! You have been very missed. I am so glad you’re back. Your hats look fantastic and are just in time for the cold weather! I’d say I am partial to that green one with the flecks, and that blue, green, and grey stripey one. The pompoms turned out great too!

@megwell that dog head on a human body is cracking me up!

Hi everyone! I went ahead and put the remaining advent prompts up. I keep forgetting to post them, and with the long weekend ahead for American Thanksgiving, many of us will have more time for crafting. Maybe one or more of these will inspire some holiday crafting!

I’d like to add that I am thankful for each and every one of you. Thank you for keeping the Nerd Games alive. If you have any ideas to change things up for 2022, please share your ideas here or send me a message. Happy holidays!

Project Name: Bathroom wall lady
Project Link:
Brief Description: This was a pen experiment. We are doodling portraits on our bathroom wall. there is too much texture, so we’re going to coat it so it is smoother and try again, but I’m super pleased with her & hope when I redo her she’ll turn out at least as well.

Prompt: November Battle- Sword
Team: Don’t Stop Beleafing
Project Name: Thanksgiving Pies
Project Link: n/a
Brief Description: For Thanksgiving, my SIL had half a dozen 6" pie plates, so we decided to make a variety of pies. I used a knife (which is kind of like a tiny sword) to peel and core the apples, and to cut the dough for the lattice crust. The pies were a group effort- my SIL made the dough for the crust, my mom sliced the apples, I assembled three of the pies (apple, apple & blueberry, cherry), and my SIL prepared the rest (pumpkin, coconut cream, banana cream). There were only 4 of us for dinner this year, and we each got to sample several pies. Each slice was only about 2 or 3 bites!

Pumpkin, Cherry, Apple & Blueberry, Apple (the cream pies were in the fridge)

Prompt: Advent: Oct 31 - Warm Clothing
Team: Don’t Stop Beleafing
Project Name: Skye Wrap
Project Link: N/A
Brief Description: I had planned to make a bunch of these for gifts. I got all the buttons and fabric, and cut all of it to size. Then I sewed the first one. I love the pattern. I don’t love how it fits and sits. Darn my assembly line production style! I’ll probably repurpose the other fabric into bags. It was easy and fun to make, though, and I love things I can put big buttons on.

Project Name: Rosy cap
Project Link:
Brief Description: My mom wears a hat a lot and she wanted a black one. But she likes things that are pretty! I looked for a blingy cap but couldn’t find one that would fit her wee head. I finally found one with a red rose embroidered on it. I know my mom and she’ll decide that she has to wear something red every time she wears the hat and she rarely wears red. SO. I painted over the rose with silver and a pearly white paint. It’s for someone I love.
