CAMPFIRE:
I love to enjoy s’mores in the summer! Since I usually don’t have a campfire going, I make them in the toaster oven. This time, I tried something a little different. I put the chocolate on a graham cracker and popped it into the toaster oven along with the marshmallow on a graham cracker. I find that when I only toast the marshmallow in the oven, the chocolate does not end up as melty as I’d like, so I decided to try it this way. I am happy to report that it actually worked very well, though I was making decadent s’mores with Hershey’s caramel filled chocolate and the caramel did almost burn my tongue. A bit less time in the toaster oven and it would’ve been just right. I’ll definitely be using this method from here on out! Actually, I might just use this method right now since writing this up has me craving a s’more .
While camping, we were visited by many blue jays (and treated to the sound of a woodpecker…pecking away at a metal sign, lol), along with some other cute wild animals.
Earlier today I wrote a birthday message to my niece.
Prompt: Zap 1 Team: Cabin Stargazers Project Name: July Postcard Project Link: N/A Brief Description: So, it turns out I didn’t do the greatest job of reading directions and I decorated the wrong side of my card. But, I did use the stopwatch function on my phone to ensure I only spent 15 minutes on it. Project Photo(s):
Prompt: Zap #1 Team: Cabin Stargazers Project Name: July Postcard Club Project Link: N/A Brief Description: I did mine in the same style as a lot of people. Happy faces with a little extra. Thanks to Tapestry, who allowed me to use her pic because I took a before, but forgot about the after. Ugh. I swear, I am going to pull myself together soon! Ha! Project Photo(s):
Last evening, I made time to watch the sunset… I like to do this when I am aware of what time it is and make it out on time.
This a photo from last week, and is basically the view we get this time of year (and the sunlight moves over toward the left for the other solstice).
I see birds in the yard all the time, and was holding out on being somewhere I might have a rare chance of seeing any native birds (or at least something not invasive), but I just heard the distinctive sassy mynah bird squawk outside, so I went out to catch a photo! (I had just been telling someone about how I don’t remember seeing any mynahs lately, even though they used to hang out in our yard all the time, so I was glad to catch one!)
and while I’m here, just another Adventure Club check-off. I’m the sole human awake in our house right now, our neighborhood sounds relatively calm and quiet, and the cats are somehow also not tearing the place apart, so I have been thinking about gratitude while I sip my coffee.
I’m thankful for:
-My partner and our little critters (cats and chookns) that bring me joy everyday.
-Having the time and space right now to spend more time being and creating, and having a home and yard space for it as well.
-This community right here (Nerd Games and Lettuce Craft as a whole), that welcomed me back as if no time was lost, after I disappeared for a couple years! (and I’m thankful for @underthemountain for encouraging me to wander back in when I saw her in real life last year— not sure I’ve even seen much of her around here lately!)

I went rogue and turned my cross-stitch heart into a spring garden. This was also my Rainy Day activity because it was something on my to-do list I needed to start but hadn’t!
Rainy Day
It was actually rainy (or at least overcast) yesterday, so I got a start on decluttering a room that’s been on my list for a LONG time.
Hopefully that was the kickstart I needed to continue on it today (which is also looking a bit cloudy/rainy so far)!
