Hey AntBee! Thatâs because I had done a points tally earlier that day (Sept 15, at 2:11pm), and none since then. It looks like you posted at 6:00pm, on Sept 15. Therefore your posts werenât tallied until today, when I did an update just now. Your To Do List and wobble duck have now been counted. Meanwhile, your stripey socks post from November 10, was outside the timeframe for the Minister of Magic Mission #2, which closed on October 1st. I have therefore counted it as Crafterâs Choice #1, unless you wish to count it under some other category.
My apologies, I missed the date range by reading too quickly. Crafterâs choice is perfect, thanks.
Thanks for all you do!
TWO new Minister for Magic Missions has been posted!

Minister for Magic Mission #3 AND #4
Current Mission: November 22nd - December 31st, 2025
Dear Magical Friends,
The Holiday season is now upon us, and as you know, I like to be prepared for anything that might arise. Therefore I have two missions for you this season. The first is to spread spread love in your family and community, by crafting a handmade gift, for any winter holiday, for anyone on your list, in the Muggle fashion. No wands allowed, just good old fashioned crafting with your hands. Knit something, bake something, sew something, paint something. Make anything you please, as a holiday gift. (MoM Mission #3)
The second Mission is to help your fellow crafters create gifts, by sharing a tutorial, pattern, or recipe, posted in its own thread here on LC. Type up your grandmotherâs recipe for holiday cookies and post it on the Food & Drink board, with a photo. Or write up a tutorial for the batch of knitted star ornaments you invented, and post in the Fiber & Textile board. The project does not have to be your own invention, and may be inspired by something you saw in a book or on the internet (such as a cookie mix in a jar), but you must create a project post here on LC, that tells LC members how to make it. (MoM Mission #4.)
You may do either or both of these Missions, and you may do them in any order. Doing these Missions will earn you 30 points each, rather than just 10.
Sincerely,
Minister for Magic
Hermione Granger-Weasley
Quick question⌠did all of my to-do list points get figured into my total? Iâve finished 11 items off my list.
11! You are a powerhouse!
Thanks! Pretty much the only to-do list that ever gets any serious attention from me is a crafty one. ![]()
Iâm not sure what youâre asking. Everything has been counted, up to my post earlier today. The list shows each of your submissions. You know we were only doing Bonus/MoM/30 points for finishing the first item you finished on your To Do List, right? Everything else earned the regular 10 points.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Under the Covers
Project Name & Page Link: Tree Ring Basket
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description:
This poor basket nearly didnât come together. I was racing against the clock, trying to finish something for sheepBlue, before getting to see her, and was working under the false assumption that my basket had to be square, and trying out a new to me supply (iron-on foam). This was a prototype for what was supposed to be two baskets, before I pivoted completely to a round design that I liked more. But overall, I am pleased that I did manage to make this rectangular basket, as planned.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Magnolia Crescent
Project Name & Page Link: Besom (Witchâs Broom)
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description:
I took a class out at Allerton Park, the night before Halloween, to make my Besom. I loved spending the evening with a group of ladies, all crafting with locally grown materials, as we listened to a lovely 90âs Witchy Women playlist.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Knight Bus
Project Name & Page Link: Practice Stitchcraft Patches
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description:
I made three of these Stitchcraft patches, for Abbeeroad, sheepBlue and myself. But I ran out of the good âpremiumâ felt on their purple ones, and fudged mine with some less great magenta. They make me so happy.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Magical Menagerie
Project Name & Page Link: Wizard Robe, Cloak & Hat
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description:
I bought the flannel fabric used to make Jimâs wizard robe and hat, on clearance at Walmart, approximately 24 years ago. It was marked down to $2 a yard, and at the time I thought Iâd use it as quilt backing. But I never had the right quilt to go with it. But there was a whole bolt, just sitting there for weeks, that no one wanted. So I scooped it up, and 24 years later, it was perfect for a Flannel Forest Wizard.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Hallway
Project Name & Page Link: Dragon Cloaks
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description:
Iâve made so many cloaks for so many Renn Faires and plays over the years. I was certain I could whip out two more.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Platform 9 3/4
Project Name & Page Link: Gnome Holiday Mug Rugs
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description:
Before teaching my Mug Rug class at Allerton, I put together 12 kits for my students to pick from, with various styles and colors. Since weâre coming up on the holidays, I put together 4 Christmas Gnomes kits, using two fat quarters Iâve been saving for a rainy day. Two got used, but I had the other two leftover. So instead of storing the kits till another class, I decided to just go ahead and make them now, and use them as holiday gifts. Theyâll be teacher gifts for my daughterâs preschool teachers.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Great Hall
Project Name & Page Link: Illuminated Potion Bottle
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description:
Despite years in theatre, and making a bunch of common props over the years, I have somehow never made a full sized potion bottle prop. And this one even lights up!
Prompt/Challenge Title: Care of Magical Creatures Paddock
Project Name & Page Link: Dragon Masks
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description:
I had to take care when painting these masks. First to use fusion spray paint as the base, then carefully layering the paint to give the scales and horns depth and age.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Staff Room
Project Name & Page Link: Illuminated Wizard Staff
LC Contest/LC Swap/Charity Item: LC Halloween Spooktacular
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description:
I was really nervous about this project. I knew that given enough time, I could manage to make a wizard staff. But I wasnât sure I had enough time to devote to doing one well, while also making 3 full Halloween costumes. Let along a staff that lit up!
Prompt/Challenge Title: Housecraft - Stash
Project Name & Page Link: Pink & Purple Mug Rugs
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description:
This pair of mug rugs was also made from leftover kits for my class. Iâm not sure who they are going to, but theyâll be part of my holiday gift stash.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Housecraft - WIP
Project Name & Page Link: Crumb Pieced Scrappy Mug Rug
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description:
I started this mug rug ages ago, when I made some scrappy crump pieced potholders. This chunk just wasnât quite big enough to be another potholder, so I layered the quilt sandwich, and put it aside with a few binding scraps, but then never finished it. I used some decorative stitches on my machine to quilt it last weekend, then bound it yesterday.
Prompt/Challenge Title: MoM #3
Project Name & Page Link: Gryffindor Mug Rugs
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description:
Letâs face it, Iâm on a roll with the mug rugs. And one of the batch neighbor/friend gifts Iâm making this year is a spiced hot tea mix. I figured it would pair well with the mug rugs. This set let me use up a bunch of HP 2.5" squares, AND a chunk of binding leftover from HP themed charity quilts. I was able to bind these two, and might even be able to do one more. This pair will go to my friend Melissaâs kids, along with the tea mix, some Butterbeer fudge, and an HP Feasts & Festivities book. I got two for my birthday, so I thought Iâd pass one onto them.
I really admire the quality and care you give to all your projects- even the ones that may be a âone offâ use, like some holiday/party items. The final products are so beautiful they could be displayed in the home and not look weird or out of place.
I canât even select a favorite from this last submission, theyâre all so varied and cool.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Honeydukeâs
Project Name & Page Link: Rose Garden Mug Rug
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description: I made a Rose Garden quilt last summer, for a raffle at DHâs family reunion. My SIL won the quilt, and loves it. Last Christmas I used most of the scraps leftover to make a matching pillow, and at this point I have only the tiniest of tiny scraps left. So I put them together to make this mug rug! The squares are cut 1.5", and are 1" when all stitched. The whole thing is 6.5" x 8.5".
Prompt/Challenge Title: Crafterâs Choice #1
Project Name & Page Link: Bumblebee Mug Rug & TUTORIAL
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description:
A few weeks ago I taught an Intro to Quilting class, where we made scrappy mug rugs. This is the mug rug I made for the Handout, which turned out to be wayyyy too long to print out. So instead I posted it here on LC, and gave the students a shorter handout with info on materials, and a QR code to LC, so they could follow along on their phone and reference it later.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Portrait of the Fat Lady
Project Name & Page Link: Mended Socks
Team: Zonkoâs
Brief Description: I nearly wore all the way through these socks before I noticed the problem. Luckily, the nylon threads held out and I had some of the same yarn left in my stash. Lots of duplicate stitching and I may get some more use out of my favorite socks.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Under the covers
Project Name: crochet baby blanket
Team: 3 Broomsticks
Brief Description: Not being skilled in charms and thus unable to work the undetectable extension charm, I am working on keeping my yarn stash appropriate to the assigned cabinet. This yarn was supposed to be returned when I opted for a different color way for the August baby gift buuuut⌠I mean, do we ever actually return perfectly good yarns? This is a baby blanket that will be either donated or held for the next arrival in the friend or family circles.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Hogwarts Express
Project Name & Page Link: Holiday Dresses
Team:
Honeydukeâs ![]()
Brief Description: After two weeks of travel and the chaos of the Thanksgiving holiday it was nice to have a chance to sit down and sew something familiar and soothing. Very restorative.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Honeydukes
Project Name & Page Link: Tiny Holiday Dresses
Team:
Honeydukeâs ![]()
Brief Description: I thought the pink and blue colors and the prints for these fabrics were very sweet and a nice variation on the usual holiday color palette.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Crafterâs Choice #1
Project Name & Page Link: More Holiday Dresses
Team:
Honeydukeâs ![]()
Brief Description: Didnât know where else to put these two so weâll give Crafterâs Choice a try for the first time.
Theyâre all so cute, but that dark blue fabric with the bitty snowflakes is gorgeous!
Prompt/Challenge Title: MoM Mission #4
Project Name & Page Link: Spiced Citrus Tea Mix
LC Contest/LC Swap/Charity Item: Holiday Spectacular 2025 Entry
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description:
I made 11 half-pint jars of this instant spiced tea mix to use as part of my friends & neighbor gifts this season. Itâs really easy to make, and pretty affordable as gifts.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Care of Magical Creatures Paddock
Project Name & Page Link: More Holiday Dresses
Team:
Honeydukeâs ![]()
Brief Description: I had the perfect patterned paper in stash for the endpages of this book but it was double sided cardstock with an almost hydrophobic surface and glue didnât stick very well. I ended up having to lightly sand one side so the adhesive had something to grip.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Crafterâs Choice #2
Project Name & Page Link: Three Small Dresses
Team:
Honeydukeâs ![]()
Brief Description: Iâm working on sewing up a bunch of dresses that I cut out earlier in the year and they donât quite fit the current prompts so crafters choice it is!
Prompt/Challenge Title: Honeydukes
Project Name & Page Link: Some Larger Doll Dresses
Team:
Honeydukeâs ![]()
Brief Description: Rather sweet and colorful set of dresses
Does anyone else plan their HPC semesters on paper? I am laying out my bullet journal for next year and trying to figure out how to track the craftalong. My journals generally last six months, which means potentially having to create three trackers given how the semesters line up and can make finding the balance between repetition and usefulness tricky. I think maybe Iâll just allocate two spreads and see how the chips fall.
I have done in the past, but rn life is totally chaotic and Iâm just trying to keep my head above water. I do really like the idea of tracking on paper.
