Prompt/Challenge Title: Platform 9 3/4 Project Name & Page Link: Halloween Doll Dresses Team: Honeydukeâs Brief Description: Iâm getting a lot of mileage out of my shoebox full of Halloween fabric this year but havenât managed to finish any print off (yet?)
Prompt/Challenge Title: Professor Lupinâs Office Project Name & Page Link: Fanbinding Quarto Team: Honeydukeâs Brief Description: I only have a black and white printer at home, but this particular project had color illustrations in it. No worries - I figured I could just print those three pages at work. However, when I tried I discovered there was something wrong with the office printerâs rollers and it was leaving streaks of toner all over the backsides of the page. If it had been my own printer I would have started taking things apart, but I didnât want to have to explain things to the IT department if something went wrong. After a bit of calling around I ended up printing at a friendâs house. Even then I had to keep flushing the nozzles of their ecotank printer, since they didnât use it often and things kept getting gummed up. But Iâm pleased with the results, even if printing involved running all over town. (October Book from my Ministry of Magic List)
Prompt/Challenge Title: Great Hall (Revisited) Project Name & Page Link:Scrappy Paper Pieced Rainbow Star Quilted Basket LC Contest/LC Swap/Charity Item: Personal Swap with sheepBlue Team: Three Broomsticks Brief Description: This was made for a personal swap with sheepBlue, when she missed signing up for the Basket Swap. Iâm really thrilled with how it came out, including the row of Foundation Paper Pieced mini star blocks, and the strip of crumb piecing along the bottom.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Magical Menagerie Project Name & Page Link: Protest Signs Team: Honeydukeâs Brief Description: Signs made using cardboard cast offs and letters cut out from the back of scrapbook paper that I had no use for (the hazards of buying paper pads). Three made, only one pictured here.
Prompt/Challenge Title: The Knight Bus Project Name & Page Link: 3 Doll Dresses Team: Honeydukeâs Brief Description: A set of three doll dresses. They donât quite coordinate but they tie together thematically
Prompt/Challenge Title: Great Hall (revisited) Project Name & Page Link: Fanbinding Folio Team: Honeydukeâs Brief Description: I donât usually share the insides of the books Iâve made this year because 90% of them have been bound fanfiction. I really enjoy the process of formatting the stories for printing, but sometimes itâs easier than others. I wanted to use a star-dingbat grawlix for the scene dividers in this book and it took hours to get the everything adjusted so stars didnât throw off the line spacing on facing pages. After that the actual binding process was a piece of cake.
Prompt/Challenge Title: The Leaky Cauldron Project Name & Page Link:Embroidered Cotton Ballad Blouse Team: Zonkoâs Brief Description: I have been hoarding this lovely fabric for a while now, waiting for the âperfectâ project to come along. Itâs from Jo-Annâs, so there is no more of it once used up. I also have a lot of projects for other people that need to be finished, so taking the time to sew for myself was only something I permitted myself to do once all of DS2âs Halloween costume was complete.
Forgive the kind of dumb question, @MistressJennie, but are we doing Crafterâs Choice and Housecraft Challenges this round? I saw them on Hermioneâs Homework Helper spreadsheet, but not in the threadâs prompts list.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Housecraft - Scraps & Stash Project Name & Page Link: Autumnal Dresses Team: Honeydukeâs Brief Description: I needed some fall flavored dresses and rather than cutting into fresh fabric I decided to see what I could scrounge out of my scrap stash. This completes the two (or more) autumn dresses from my minister for magic list
Prompt/Challenge Title: Housecraft - Reparo Project Name & Page Link: Hemming Team: Honeydukeâs Brief Description: These pants werenât exactly broken but since it is really hard to find variation in inseams they definitely needed shortened. I used the fold over method that lets you retain the original hem, took about 1.5 inches up, and then tacked the fold down so it didnât flip out the next time they were washed.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Crafterâs Choice #1 Project Name: Baby Blanket Team: Shrieking Shack Brief Description: I made this baby blanket for a cousinâs baby!
Prompt/Challenge Title: The Great Hall Project Name: Slippers Team: Shrieking Shack Brief Description: For these slippers, I tried something new! I was given this pattern and an existing slipper (bottom right in the picture) and asked to make new slippers similar to the old one. This pattern has an interesting mix of crochet (so many slip stitches!) and knitting (for the insteps). I started out following the pattern, and modified it to more closely match the original slipper. It took me a few tries to get the sizing right, but I eventually succeeded! It was a fun (& a bit challenging) project.
Prompt/Challenge Title: The Knight Bus Project Name: Purple Baskets Team: Shrieking Shack Brief Description: I used purple yarn to make a set of three crochet baskets (based on this pattern) for someone who loves purple.
Prompt/Challenge Title: McGonagallâs Office Project Name: Sophie Blanket WIP Team: Shrieking Shack Brief Description: My Sophie blanket (pattern) was in time out for quite a while (multiple years), and I finally pulled it out to work on it again! I finished up to the end of the main pattern & now Iâm deciding what squares I want to add to the ends. After that, thereâs a border & then ends to weave in.
Prompt/Challenge Title: North Tower Project Name: Pink XO Magnetic Bracelet Team: Shrieking Shack Brief Description: Iâve been having fun making these magnetic friendship bracelets! This one was made with a variety of pink embroidery floss from my stash.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Platform 9 ž Project Name: Crochet Baskets Team: Shrieking Shack Brief Description: I used some stash yarn to make crochet baskets (based on this pattern).
Prompt/Challenge Title: McGonagallâs Office Project Name & Page Link: Striped socks Team: Zonkoâs Brief Description: These socks got pushed onto the backburner for a while, but I picked them back up and finished them.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Prof. Lupinâs Office Project Name & Page Link:Yuji Itadori Cosplay LC Contest/LC Swap/Charity Item: Halloween Spooktacular 2025 Team: Zonkoâs Brief Description: This costume was bit tricky as I had to redraw a few pattern pieces for each garment. It was worth the work, though, because it was for someone I am immensely grateful to have in my life.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Mollyâs Housecraft Challenges - Scrap/Stash Busting Project Name & Page Link:Pegasus Pinafore Dress Team: Zonkoâs Brief Description: I originally bought this fabric to make a light-weight blazer, but later decided that not only do I dislike making that kind of garment, I really donât need something so formal in my wardrobe. So, this fabric (along with the lining fabric) went back into stash. Luckily, it was enough yardage to accommodate pretty much anything Iâd want to make for myselfâŚlike a whimsical pinafore dress!
Prompt/Challenge Title: Crafterâs Choice Project Name & Page Link: Canine Sweatshirt Team: Zonkoâs Brief Description: I figured out this year, after he had to have surgery, that my pup actually likes wearing clothes. He always appreciated a jacket or cowl for cold weather potty breaks, but he genuinely likes a comfy shirt, too. So, I modified the pattern I used to make him some post-op tees to make a cozy sweatshirt. It took less than an hour, so I will definitely make more for him.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Minister of Magic Mission #2 Project Name & Page Link: Stripey socks for spouse Team: 3 Broomsticks Brief Description: Item #6 on my MoM to do list was stripey socks for my husband and here they are done!
Prompt/Challenge Title: North Tower Project Name & Page Link: Pink & Black Musselburgh Hat Team: Zonkoâs Brief Description: This lone skein of hand-dyed speckled pink sock yarn was languishing in my stash, so I paired it with a charcoal grey silk/alpaca yarn and knitted another Musselburgh hat. The odd color pooling actually reminds me of tea leaves in the bottom of a cup, as I keep looking for recognizable shapes in the black splotches.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Crafterâs Choice #2 Project Name & Page Link:Three-Tiered Floral Skirt Team: Zonkoâs Brief Description: I threw together this tiered skirt as part of my on-going self-made wardrobe project. Tiered skirts are so feminine and romantic-looking, and theyâre really fast and easy to make. This has become my favorite style to both make and wear.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Knight Bus Project Name & Page Link: crochet wrap Team: 3 Broomsticks Brief Description: I am conscientiously working at keeping the yarn cabinet stash orderly and want to have a higher level of turn around so as to keep things in good condition and use things rather than have them age out of usefulness in some way and so I worked up the leftover August Babyâs blanket yarn into a crochet wrap without a recipient in mind. While working on it I learned of a friendâs aunt who will be having surgery next month and so now this will go there with a little âsunshine packageâ to comfort after she comes to move in with friend for her convalescence.
