Prompt/Challenge Title: Leaky Cauldron
Project Name & Page Link: Butterbeer Fudge
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description:
What could be fudgier than fudge? I made two versions of Butterbeer fudge as part of a Christmas gift. There was so much candy, that I had enough for another friend’s gift basket, and some for us. I have more Butterscotch chips, marshmallow cream and evaporated milk leftover, so I’m tempted to make another batch. Just to use things up… No other reason…

Prompt/Challenge Title: McGonagall’s Office
Project Name & Page Link: Bee & Dragon Mini Pillows
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description: These poor little pillows have been years in the making. I made a set of full size dragon pillows before Ada was born, and the cut & sew panel had this tiny dragon as decoration near the instructions. I though I’d make a little piece to hang on her stroller/car seat, but I ran out of stuffing, and it got packed away in the move. I found it about a year ago. Meanwhile, Ada got a bee sweatshirt for her first birthday, and outgrew it by her second. She ADORED it. If it was clean, she was wearing it. So when she outgrew it, I put it aside to do something with. I finally remembered to pick up more polyfill, and made them to go in Ada’s stocking this year. She’s been carrying them around everywhere.

Prompt/Challenge Title: Crafter’s Choice #4
Project Name & Page Link: QAYG Lavender Potholders
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description:
I’m going to be teaching a class on making Quilt-As-You-Go Potholders this summer, so to practice, I made a set for my mom, to match her kitchen. I previously made her some placemats, and had these strips leftover from those. They were quick and easy, and hopefully she enjoys baking with them.

Prompt/Challenge Title: Crafter’s Choice #5
Project Name & Page Link: Air Dry Clay Ornaments
LC Contest/LC Swap/Charity Item: Holiday Spectacular
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description:
I bought a huge tub of air dry clay to use on Jim’s wizard staff for Halloween, and wanted to try to use up some more of it before it dries out. So Ada & I had an ornament making day. We used cookie cutters, and stamps from my stash to add texture. I painted them with Jacquard Lumiere paints, which have an amazing shimmer to them. Ada went a bit more… free form? with her paint choices.

And just for fun, here are a few of Ada’s (the rest were already wrapped up)

My projects always seem to take forever so I am grateful for the WiP reporting category. Kidlet’s semi-yearly sweater progress seems appropriate for a Molly Weasley inspired challenge.

Prompt/Challenge Title: Molly’s Housecraft Challenge WiP
Project Name & Page Link: Weasley sweater for 7 year old.
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description:
I had been planning on making a new pattern for Kidlet’s latest sweater but we couldn’t find a cardigan in her size that we liked so back to the old standby Weasley Sweater for another make. Previously I made this in Maroon, Blue, and Red. Tuesday evening I finished off the back panel and here I started the front panel:

Here is the current length on the front panel:

I am hoping to finish this before the end of the month. She is over 4 feet tall so I am making the child L/Adult Sm size. My hope is that it will be long enough to wear with leggings and also comfortable enough as she grows to maybe still be able to wear it as a more fitted sweater later.

This yarn is so soft looking and such a nice color. Also, I really like the way you have displayed your cards. I’m going to file that idea in the back of my mind for next year.

Thanks!
There’s a Christmas themed braided ribbon strung up then the cards get clothes-pinned up onto it. The lights went up after the tree came down to bring back in a bit of the homey cheer that the tree lights give. This set is on a timer so they turn on around 5pm and stay on throughout the evening.

Prompt/Challenge Title: Portrait of the Fat Lady
Project Name & Page Link: Pizzelle Success [recipe]
Team: :lollipop: Honeyduke’s :lollipop:
Brief Description: Maybe stretching this a bit since what was really repaired here was my confidence. My family’s signature Christmas cookie is pizzelles, to the point that I associate the season with the smell of anise more so than pine. I’ve never bought a pizzelle iron, they’ve just been inherited from random relations and friends of friends who had died or were downsizing right when the last one gave up the ghost. A few years ago the neighbor on the other side of the party wall flooded her apartment and destroyed my kitchen and my pizzelle iron was a casualty of the mold remediation. My father bought me a replacement (cuisinart) but since I was without a kitchen for two Christmases and dealing with hospice for my mother last year I hadn’t really broken it in and was looking forward to going to town on pizzelles in 2025. I could not for the life of me get them right. They just wouldn’t crisp up and I couldn’t get a consistent color on them. 40 seconds would burn one pair and 80 seconds would leave the next barely cooked, and no matter what they would bend more than snap. After three batches (one of which got thrown away) I finally thought it might be the machine and not me. I stalked some reddit threads and Pittsburgh Cookie Table facebook groups to find the best manufacturer for thin, crispy pizzelles and ordered one the day after Christmas. It arrived this week and I made a half-batch to test it out. They. Were. Perfect. Thin and crispy and giving me flashbacks to the ones made on my great-grandmother’s harvest gold machine we used back when I was a kid in the 90s. If you want to make pizzelles that practically melt in your mouth this is the one to get.

I need to find some cat-safe patterns. He’s such a yarn addict I’m afraid he’ll break it and swallow some. He steals cords, my ear buds, pipe cleaners, bristles he snaps off my broom if I don’t store it upside down…

We’re almost to the end of our term, and Minister for Magic Granger has some last minute missions for you! What can you get done this week?!?!

:sparkles: :scroll: :sparkles: Minister for Magic Missions #5 , #6, & #7
Current Mission: January 26th - 31st, 2026

Dear Magical Friends,
Once the Holiday season is over, I am always ready for a fresh start. However, there always seems to be some bits and bobs to clear up before I can move on with the New Year; items to use up or clear out, items to cross off my list, WIPs to finish. Therefore I have three very short missions for you to complete before the month is out.

#1. Finish it off! (MoM #5) Check the To Do List you posted at the beginning of the season, and see what remains unfinished. Complete something left undone.

#2. Use it up! (MoM #6) Use up stuff around your house. Ex. Use up ingredients in your pantry that have been in there too long. Use up nearly empty bottles of paint in a pour painting, etc.

#3. Clear it out! (MoM #7) Clear out a yarn bin, by using up leftover balls of yarn to make a scrappy tote bin, etc.

You may do any or all of these Missions, and you may do them in any order. Doing these Missions will earn you 30 points each, rather than just 10.

Sincerely,
Minister for Magic
Hermione Granger-Weasley

Prompt/Challenge Title: Fortescue’s Ice Cream Shop
Project Name & Page Link: Soy Wax Candles
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description: I did not get good pictures, but I did make 12 pounds of soy wax candles for holiday gifts. I did 6 lbs with friends, teaching them how, then another 6 lbs on my own.

Prompt/Challenge Title: Three Broomsticks
Project Name & Page Link: Quilted Bird Notebook Cover
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description: I bought my lovely MIL some watercolor painting supplies and books from her wishlist for Christmas, and Amazon helpfully recommended a little travel watercolor notebook. As she often brings her art supplies when visiting us or on vacation, it seemed perfect. I thought the cover was a pretty green, but a bit borning, and I wanted to make some component of her gift, so I stitched this up.

Prompt/Challenge Title: MoM #6
Project Name & Page Link: Use It Up Lemon Curd Cupcakes
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description: I’m on a mission to use up and clean out things in my fridge and pantry. I had half a jar of lemon curd that was on it’s last few weeks of usability, a lemon cake mix, a tub of lemon frosting, and part of a jar of yellow sprinkles that need to leave my cupboard. So I baked the cupcakes, filled them with lemon curd, then added the sprinkles. This pic was taken before I remembered to add the sprinkles.

Prompt/Challenge Title: MoM #7
Project Name & Page Link: Chocolate Peppermint (Cake Mix) Cookies
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description:
I’m trying to clear out a bin of baking chips & mixes in my pantry. There were some chips that have been there for 2+ years, and really needed to get used before they went bad. (I know things don’t necessiarily go bad the day they hit the Best By date, but I have had chocolate chips go rancid before.) I also had a chocolate cake mix that Walmart substituted in an order for me, and has been sitting around for over a year. So I used up half a bag of Andes peppermint chips, and the cake mix, in a batch of Cake Mix Cookies.

Prompt/Challenge Title: Crafter’s Choice #7
Project Name & Page Link: Chickpea Truffles
Team: Three Broomsticks
Brief Description:
I had a can of chickpeas that fell off the back of a shelf, and were nearing their Best By date, a bag of black cocoa powder from Ada’s 2nd birthday cake (she’s about to be 4) as well as a bag of chocolate chips that I received by accident in an Imperfect Foods order. They were sugar-free, dairy-free, everything-free, and kind of a weird texture. So I decided to take a gamble on this recipe for Chickpea Truffles. The recipe said it would make 12 truffles, but I used my small cookie scoop and made 24 (this is half the batch). They were… interesting. I don’t think I’d make them again, but the fact that they were made with chickpeas had nothing to do with it. The truffle center was great. Light and fluffy, and darkly chocolatey. The problem was they almost killed my little food processor’s motor. The texture is just too thick for that kind of appliance. I topped a few with flaky sea salt. My husband and I both liked them, and I think with a lighter cocoa powder, and a better chocolate chip, they might be amazing. But it might kill my food processor…
