I am in love with the little badger family!
“This semester isn’t my best” (proceeds to post some of the coolest stuff we’ve seen all year)
Thank you! <3
I think we all feel like that sometimes. But posting here can often remind me just how much awesome stuff I did. Hopefully posting helps you see how creative and productive you’ve been.
Yeah, that is true. It did help to post them, and get some creative spark again! <3
Prompt/Challenge Title: Deathday in the Dungeons
Project Name & Page Link: Half Letter Book
Team: Daily Prophet
Brief Description: The paper for this is such a strange color combination. Very early 2000s in its overly brown color scheme. But since I’ve had the paper since around 2006 that makes sense. Glad to finally have justification for hoarding it all those years.

Prompt/Challenge Title: Privet Drive
Project Name & Page Link: Sapphire Anniversary Table Topper
Team: Witch Weekly
Brief Description: I was really worried about finishing this project in time for my parent’s anniversary in October. Fortunately while it did arrive late, it was only by a day.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Harry’s Bedroom
Project Name & Page Link: Clara’s Safari Baby Quilt
Team: Witch Weekly
Brief Description:
This sweet little baby quilt for our neighbors, worked up very quickly, due to using some precut charm packs in my stash.
Prompt/Challenge Title: The Burrow
Project Name & Page Link: Outdoor Holiday Decor (Christmas)
Team: Witch Weekly
Brief Description: I did ‘first pass’ of outdoor holiday decor. There’s more I want to add, but our house is in the middle of being painted. Currently all but 1 porch column are done (that one is sanded bare and unpainted!), and the white portions of the walls on the porch haven’t been done yet. The painters keep telling us they’ll come back as soon as the weather is warm enough and the humidity is right to finish, assuring me that it will be done before the New Year. But I’m worried it won’t be until Spring, with the cold snap and rain we’ve had. So for now, I haven’t added the lit evergreen garland I bought for the porch, or made new bows to go on the lamp post and lights. Just put out the wreaths, potted arrangements, new welcome mat, and changed out the chair cushion from fall purple, to holiday red. At least it looks like someone who cares lives here.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Borgin & Burke’s
Project Name & Page Link: Mary Grandpre Donation Quilts
LC Contest/LC Swap/Charity Item: Quilts for Kids
Team: Witch Weekly
Brief Description:
These fun, and unexpected HP kids quilts (ie, not your standard red/yellow/green/blue/black palette), used up a bunch of my dark HP prints, including some black with metallic gold, and some of the paintings of the original US covers by Mary Grandpre.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Knockturn Alley
Project Name & Page Link: Hogwart’s Baby Quilt
LC Contest/LC Swap/Charity Item: Quilts for Kids
Team: Witch Weekly
Brief Description: This much more ‘expected’ HP design, was rescued from my studio, and my own inattention. I have been teaching a friend to quilt, and in doing so, cut two of these classic 4-patch quilts. I would do some of the next steps on mine, to show her, then she would do the same steps on hers. But somehow she accidentally stole some of my blocks, to make hers an extra row long, leaving my quilt short. I had enough scrap to fill in part, but was still shy by 1 block. The amazing @jellybean suggested I created a paper pieced block for the center, and it was an amazing save!
Prompt/Challenge Title: Flourish & Blott’s
Project Name & Page Link: Kiki’s Messenger Bag
Team: Witch Weekly
Brief Description:
I made my daughter a messenger bag to go with her Kiki costume for Halloween. And since I knew she’d love playing with the bag even after the holiday, I used some secret Kiki fabric for the lining. Shhh, don’t tell!
Prompt/Challenge Title: King’s Cross
Project Name & Page Link: Hogwart’s Crest Block
Team: Witch Weekly
Brief Description:
Since I had never done any paper piecing, I’m counting making this block as its own project as well. I had to train my brain to think backwards for this technique, and in doing so, I overcame the obstacle of having to spend a bunch of money on more fabric for a single missing block. Everything came from stash, and I feel like it looks completely intentional.
Prompt/Challenge Title: The Sky
Project Name & Page Link: Sapphire Gemstone Blocks
Team: Witch Weekly
Brief Description: These blocks both feature many shades of blue, including cerulean, and I needed to check on them constantly to get the points lined up.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Great Hall
Project Name & Page Link: Mina’s Farmyard Friends Quilt
Team: Witch Weekly
Brief Description:
While I love how this quilt came out, it is in fact, LOUD. Bright, bright pink, against black and white, with polka dots, stripes, and crazy barnyard animals print.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Herbology Greenhouses
Project Name & Page Link: Bluey Crown
Team: Witch Weekly
Brief Description: My daughter is obsessed with Bluey. The other day she asked for a Queen’s Crown, like Bluey wears. NOT Wonder Woman’s crown, that we already have. But one like Bluey’s. So I found a pattern on the Ludo Studio’s website to make a paper one, and simply made it in fabric and batting instead. I added felt for the flowers, and button details, along with yellow velcro so it will adjust as she grows.
Prompt/Challenge Title: DADA Classroom
Project Name & Page Link: Witchy Boots Flower Arrangement
LC Contest/LC Swap/Charity Item: Halloween Decor Challenge
Team: Witch Weekly
Brief Description: Everything about this project is ME. I love all things witchy and Halloweeny. Especially crafting amazing Halloween decor. And I took a floral arranging class in grad school, and love to pull out those skills when possible. I adore how this came out and look forward to using it for years to come.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Hagrid’s Cabin
Project Name & Page Link: “Unexpected” HP Donation Quilt
LC Contest/LC Swap/Charity Item: Quilts for Kids
Team: Witch Weekly
Brief Description: In another example of things going wrong when they sit on the back burner too long… This quilt was cut last January, and sat around waiting to be put together. Somehow the fabric I planned to use for the binding (but hadn’t cut out) got used in another project later, leaving me short on this one. After realizing I couldn’t buy any more at my Joann’s, I made a scrappy binding with what I did have instead. It 100% was not what I planned, but it does look fun now that it’s finished.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Lockhart’s Office
Project Name & Page Link: Unpaper Towels
Team: Witch Weekly
Brief Description: These unpaper towels are incredibly tedious, but will make nice gifts. I bought 3 2-yard cuts of diaper cloth at Walmart, then sliced that into 8.5" squares. Tedious, but fast. Then I had to sit and serge the edges of all 96! It took hours, but is worth it as I now have 9 sets to go in my holiday gifting pile. The ribbons were even in a scrap bag, having been removed from another project.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Deathday Party in the Dungeons
Project Name & Page Link: Cranberry Breads
Team: Witch Weekly
Brief Description: I bought 2 bags of cranberries, and wound up making 5 loaves of bread this year! I dropped 4 of them off to friends and neighbors around town, and kept one for Thanksgiving.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Flooded Corridor
Project Name & Page Link: Glowing Porch Ghosts
LC Contest/LC Swap/Charity Item: Halloween Decor Challenge
Team: Witch Weekly
Brief Description: My daughter is obsessed with ghosts, after reading about a Ghost who is a quilt, in a book from sheepBlue. So I made glowing ghosts for our front porch. They even change colors!
Prompt/Challenge Title: Housecraft - Stash
Project Name & Page Link: Potholders for Bunny1kenobi
LC Contest/LC Swap/Charity Item:
Team: Witch Weekly
Brief Description: I did a personal swap with Bunny1kenobi for one of her BizzyBags for Ada’s Christmas stocking. She asked for some potholders in return, and mentioned her kitchen was black, white, gre & red, and they like a primitive style. So I dug through my 2.5" squares and made some fun potholders.
Adding my silly little project after all that amazingness up there.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Transfiguration Classroom
Project Name & Page Link: Holiday Garlands
Team: Daily Prophet
Brief Description: We’re trying to build a little bit more community around one of the more niche branch libraries at work so the public services manager and I planned a really easy paper garland construction station. We had maybe 5 students show up for a pre-exam break but we’re still calling it good for as little promotion as we were able to do. They made some amazing stuff out of paper strips we had some wreaths and paper trees out of the extra construction paper, but I only managed to get a photo of the chains my coworker and I made. The students were all carefully color coordinating their chains, whereas she and I went for the traditional rainbow insanity.
Held together and hung with tape.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Housecraft challenge: WIP
Project Name & Page Link: Wrist warmers for xmas
Team: Which Broomstick
Brief Description: Started these pair last year, in time for xmas, but never finished, but now they are done.
Prompt/Challenge Title: Crafters choice 5
Project Name & Page Link: Blackwork in blue
Team: Which Broomstick
Brief Description: One more xmas gift done, this one for my mum. She said she wanted something handmade, and I thought this was a good choice.
