Chapter 1: Owl Post June 15th-27th
Harry spends the summer holidays studying magic and doing his homework in secret, after the Dursley’s have all gone to bed, and trying to stay out of trouble with them. He receives cards & gifts on his birthday from Ron, Hermione, and Hagrid. Ron also tells him Mr. Weasley won a prize from the Daily Prophet, and uses the money to take the family on a holiday to Egypt to visit Bill. The remainder will go towards buying Ron a new wand. Hagrid mentions that Harry might find his birthday present helpful in the coming year. Finally he receives a note from Prof. McGonagall with his school supply list, and a notice that 3rd years may visit Hogsmeade on the weekends, as long as their parents sign a permission slip.

For this challenge, please give yourself permission to craft something YOU want to make, for any reason. Not something you feel the need to make, like a baby blanket for your expecting co-worker, or that birthday present for your mom that you have to do. Alternately, you may craft something with a new tool you just acquired, or you may surprise us all with a project you’ve been working on in secret.

Brief Description: Inspired by one of the many holiday of June; Father’s Day. I made this fun little keychain to go with the silk dragon egg bag for my dad. He loves shades of blue and teal, so I used dark blue, teal, sky blue, and silver rings, with a blue agate bead, and lump of polished blue agate.

Brief Description: During the summer, I try to swim every day. The neighborhood pool is adults only lap time from 5:00-7:00, then the swim team takes over. Since I have a brief window between waking up and needing to be out of the water, and since my doctor ordered me to eat breakfast before exercising, I need something fast and portable in the mornings. Last month I made some oatmeal & zucchini breakfast bars, and finally ran out of them, so it was time to try a new breakfast bar recipe. This one called for butterscotch chips, but I couldn’t find any that were dairy free, so I just used mini chocolate chips instead, and for a flavor boost, I added some decaf instant coffee to the batter. They are quite tasty! And rather like eating cake for breakfast…

Brief Description: Trying to be better at cooking, Im always on the lookout for easy recipes, and when I found this I felt I should give it a try. Easy done, with just some garlic, curry, chiliflakes, chicken, chicken broth, tomatos and heavy cream. Mix and put in the oven. Since it is curry in, it turned yellow-ish, so I hope that would fit for the Quidditch preseason.

When the fabric bundle arrived the bathing beauties screamed Dresden Plate to me, so that was the inspiration for the mini quilt.

Brief Description: I love nothing more than a few different dips, and things to dip, as a sharing appetizer. This one has been on my to-make list for a while, so this seemed like a good time to try it. It is so easy and so tasty - I had to make myself put the tub back in the fridge, I could have kept eating!

Brief Description: I have been asked to make five of these teddy bears, using fleecy jumpers that belonged to the grandmother of the children they are going to.

Soft Suffed Toy Sewing PATTERN Independent Design. 14 Inch Patchwork Fabric...

I will need to take apart the jumpers and attach iron on interfacing to support the fabric. I then need to cut out and sew 5 of them, trying to carefully utilise the different colours and the one jumper with embroidered elements. I am aiming for no 2 bears to be identical. I will be using fastener backed eyes and noses, rather than embroidery/beads that are used in the pattern.

Brief Description: My enamel pins & pinback buttons used to be displayed together, but I ran out of room & had to reorganize my collection. All of the buttons are now on the old display & I made a new one for the enamel pins by crocheting a circle (using crochet thread) & mounting it in a hoop. Now all of my enamel pins fit with plenty of room!

Brief Description: my friends son is turning 15 tomorrow and I decided to make him a cake. He did not make it easy on me when I asked what flavour he liked… “as long as it’s not mushroom” was his answer. After giving me that answer three times on different questions I asked I had a plan to mess with him by surprising him with a mushroom cake. I decided to make things easier on myself and make the mushrooms a day earlier.

I was also scared of it before but it’s real easy, not much you can do wrong with them, even if you sort of mess up a little it will still dry well.

Make sure the egg whites aren’t super old, beat them real good and bake them for a long time. I try to follow the recipes, adding the sugar after beating the egg whites. Many recipes suggest cream of tartar but i use lemon juice as I don’t have that cream of tartar easily available.

Oh, and if you’re planning to make meringues with star shaped tips or something like that it’s best not to leave the mixture standing for too long, the crisp edges will be soft.

The Summer Quidditch Season is NOW OPEN! This term we have 14 Quidditch Challenges. You may do each prompt once. The Season will end on September 12th, meaning you have 12 weeks to work on these. Please note that everyone is welcome to do each of the House themed challenges, regardless of their own House. We are celebrating the best of all our Houses, and House Quidditch teams!

Summer Quidditch!
June 20th-September 12th

Keeper - We all guard our stash too closely sometimes. Please craft with a supply that’s been in your stash awhile.
Chaser - Chasers work in groups of 3. Please craft 3 of something. Alternately you may craft something the result of teamwork, such as making a quilt with blocks sent to you in a quilting bee/swap, etc.
Beater - Two beaters work together to keep the Chasers & Seeker safe. Craft 2 (or a pair) of something; such as two bracelets or a set of earrings. Or craft 2 things that go together perfectly, like a potholder and a woodburned spoon.
Seeker - Craft something that is the result of your constant search for the perfect something; the perfect yarn for that sweater, the perfect brownie recipe, etc.
Quaffle - The Quaffle is a red leather ball, with indentations for the players to grip. Please craft something red in color, something made from leather (or faux leather!), or get to grips with a project that has been on the back burner. The quilt you cut out the pieces for, the mending that has been piling up, etc.
Bludger - Please ‘beat’ a difficult project or pattern, cook up a difficult recipe, or craft with a supply that is notoriously hard to work with.
Snitch - Follow the golden rule and craft something for someone else that you would love to receive, or craft for a charity or RAOK. Alternately you may use the Golden Ratio in your craft.
Broom - Brooms can clean our homes, and can carry you where you want to go. Please craft something that has more than one purpose. Alternately you may craft something to take ‘on the go’.
Beater Bats - Craft something that uses wood as a material, or that uses a wooden tool in its construction, such as a bracelet of wooden beads, or use a wooden spoon to stir cookie dough.
Goal Hoops - Craft something round or spherical. Alternately you may craft something that is, or represents, a personal goal for yourself. If your goal is to go back to yoga class now that the pandemic is in retreat, you could craft yourself a yoga mat bag.
Gryffindor - Be bold! Try a new craft or a new recipe that isn’t your usual fare. Alternately you may pass beyond bold and go straight to reckless. Craft something without any pattern, recipe, or guidance!
Hufflepuff - Craft in your most loyal medium. The one you always come back to time after time.
Ravenclaw - Craft something inspired by a favorite book or something you read. Alternately you may craft something highly logical, such as making a new mesh bag to take to the beach. (Mesh allows sand to be shaken out, and wet towels to dry.)
Slytherin - You will need all your cunning to take on an ambitious project. This could be something large, something in a technique that you need to learn, or it could be crafting something against a looming deadline.
