Hello! We are headed into the holiday season, so I wanted to know what kind of Ornament Swap people would be interested in having?
We could do:
A -Small Batch style, where you choose to make either 3 or 6 of the same ornament ahead of time and send them to partners. This will be completely random, no requests on what to make, just make something you love and have fun.
B- Ongoing Ornament Swap, this one is a chain style where you pick from a list of the last person to claim. You can make and many or as few as you want and get ornaments specific to your themes.

I love the ongoing one, too. It has such a vibrant energy and is as fun to watch as to participate. I have done both over the years.
I haven’t done the make ahead, sign up, send version of a swap yet, I voted that way this time around because I don’t think I have the spoons to keep pace with the ongoing in the way that I would like.
But who knows. Ongoing is so shiny and exciting, it may just push the fog over crafting away and let some light in.
If we have enough people voting for both, I could host both. I love seeing all the ornaments on LC! I know the On-going swap normally starts at the beginning of September, so be on the look out for it this year!
Both swaps look fun! But I’m not sure I can participate in either. I might be doing a holistic rehab type thing in fall for chronic fatigue. It’s only parttime, and you go home at night, but I don’t think I’d have that much time for crafting. If they don’t admit me, I might have time for a tiny little bit of swapping but only early on in the season. It looks like my work will be busy this year roughly between Halloween and Christmas.
People who have swapped internationally may have experienced that the EU has similar charges on parcels (unless they’re gifts, but otherwise the recipient is liable to pay sales tax at the applicable rate). It absolutely makes sense for the US to do the same, but it seems the decision was a bit rushed and very important practical questions remain open. I imagine foreign postal services suspended services because they didn’t want to become liable to pay tariffs themselves (instead of the sender or recipient) or risk becoming liable for mail or money that somehow got lost in the system. It reminds me a bit of the post-Brexit chaos that took a few months to clear up.
