It’s wise to recognize that you should follow the muse. I find that when I don’t, and I try to force myself to do what I “should” be working on/finishing first, I actually stall out and do neither.
This was the case for me, too, but then I started using working on the thing I wanted to work on as a treat/reward for working on the thing I didn’t want to work on. Not a method that would work for everyone, but it worked for me.
I also like that method of doing a “must do” then doing something fun. I like balance. Lately, I have done it backwards and it still works for me. Do something fun for a bit so I feel energized to get something “must do” off my list.
Both are good strategies!
I removed several projects from my to-do list, including an altered puzzle, puzzle magnets, a couple mini quilts, a denim tote bag, and some knit/crochet projects I don’t want to make anymore. I have one half-done WIP I’m still deciding if I want to finish or not (it’s a knit shrug and I don’t know how much I’d actually use it).
Today I reorganized my craft supplies and pulled out a bunch of things I don’t want to use anymore (several for the projects I removed from my to-do list!). I packed them up to give away - I’ll see if the children’s librarian can use any/all of it for kids & teens crafting days at the library. ![]()
That is really cool, @Silky_Bee.
I finished the year’s first project, too. It’s just a flannel skirt for myself.
What pretty scene! Good way to start the new year!
@tendstowardschaos A warm skirt or any clothing for yourself is fabulous! I often wondered why they don’t make more dresses and skirts for women out of flannel and other warmer materials.
I always have such a hard time finding long-sleeved dresses, especially suitable for work. Most seem to be elbow-length at most. Even dresses that are clearly designed to be winter clothes. At home I like those dresses that look like a massive sweater, they usually have long sleeves.
My second project - a snowman birthday card
It’s so cute!
Wow! What a finish! It looks absolutely stunning!
It’s beautiful!
It’s amazing! The colors, the fit, the patterns! ![]()
