Dead As The Dickens - A Skully Christmas Tree Ornament - Holiday Spectacular Challenge 2025

We have what we call our “Irreverent Tree” that is black and has various not-necessarily-safe-for-granny ornaments on and around it: Krampus, Belsnickel, Cthulhu snowman, etc. I got the idea to make a santa skully, but it turns out none of my Santa hat dies fit this skull!

The top hat and scarf (backwards) are from a Tim Holtz snowman set and the spectacles from Spellbinders (and upside down!). This is not the Irreverent Tree, just our “main” tree.

I’m pleased with how sturdy this paper ornament is which has me thinking that I might make more die cut ornaments, possibly for gift toppers or even tags (with for/from on the back)

This stuff you make with die-cutting is such eye candy! I love that it’s got layers for shading and stuff. It’s beautiful!

Aw, thank you! The credit for the layers goes to the die designers for sure.

Thanks so much everyone!

Well, here it is! It’s really hard to see details, because it’s in our bedroom which is dark in general, but especially in winter.

Some inclusions are these things that I’ve made:
This tree skirt - the post has some more pics of stuff, too.
Skully Canes
Evil Eye Candy Canes
Yule Cat
Belsnickel
Krampus

This Krampus Nutcracker sits next to the tree.

And something I made prior to LC:

It’s absolutely glorious! The Cthulhu snowman made me giggle and that Krampus nutcracker is next level epic. I missed that when you originally posted it and the sheer artistry and creativity is enthralling!

It’s mind-boggling that something this intricate is made of paper!

@Tapestry Thanks! It’s all about the giggles and playing with the idea of the Naughty List! There are a few store-bought Krampuses on there as well as several black jingle bells. Also a murder Santa!

@megwell Yes, I’m consistently astounded at the minds of the people who design these die sets.

Love this tree! You could put it up for Halloween and just leave it up until Christmas.

Thanks! I have considered getting Halloween specific decorations for the black tree.
