Game Day Party Foods Round-up - February 2025

Super Bowl Sunday is almost here in the US. Many folks will gather with friends and family to watch the game, and more importantly, savor some of the best party foods of the year! Maybe you’re excited to cheer on your team. Maybe you don’t care about the game itself, but are looking forward to some quality knitting time with a side of excellent snacks. Or perhaps you just want to tune in to watch the commercials and see what Taylor Swift is wearing. No worries, and no judgement. We’ve got some recommendations for ALL of you.

Any great Super Bowl Party needs to be anchored with the quintessential party food: a great chip. So how about trying @Tapestry’s Homemade Pita Chips?

And a great chip, needs an awesome dip. Give @tendstowardschaosCowboy Caviar a try. It’s chunky and satisfying, plus you can adjust the heat level to your liking, and folks won’t realize you’re including some vegetables into their day.

In addition to a good chunky dip, you will totally also need a good cheese dip. @megwell has you covered with her Sausage & Cheese Slow Cooker Dip.

Finally in the dip category, you should go for something smooth and creamy. And maybe also accidentally vegan for any veggie-sauraus friends who come over. This Lemon & Herb White Bean Spread is creamy, and bright with the addition of lemon and fresh herbs. Plus you can dip chips, or even slather it on bread.

And to keep you going through all the pre-game talk, the game itself, the Halftime Show, and post show analysis, you’re gonna need some protein. How about @geekgirl’s Deviled Eggs with bacon and cheddar. None of your guests are going to say no to the extra bacon.

At this point, you’re going to want a non-dipable side dish. May I suggest @Makiyonah’s Green Veggies Potato Salad. Bright in color, and full of potatolicious carbs.

If you’re feeling extra fancy, you can always lay out a Charcuterie Board like @kait1371’s beautiful creation of cheese, meat, crackers and olives.

If you’re feeding a crowd on this cold February day, you can’t go wrong with a crockpot full of something hot and hearty. Perhaps a comforting Pumpkin Chili like @endymion’s. Set it up in the morning, and let it simmer till folks are hungry, so you can enjoy the festivities with your friends.

Or, if you’re in the mood for something different this year, try this White Chili with Chicken!

Finally, any good spread needs a few good desserts. How about Brigadeiros? @LindyBlues shares how to make these Brazilian chocolate truffles, which could be done with sprinkles in your teams colors.

Or, if your time is limited, try @sheepBlue’s Easy Holiday Crockpot Candy, which let’s the crockpot do the work, while you prep other foods. These could also be customized with sprinkles in your chosen colors.

If you’d prefer a bar type cookie, how about these Dark Chocolate & Sea Salt Tahini Swirled Blondies, which sound complex and look extra fancy, but actually are pretty simple and come together fast.

Or, if you can’t decide on a dessert, you can always do a Dessert Charcuterie Board like @Gallifrey’s; combining cookies, candies, fresh berries, nuts, and chocolate. There’s something for everyone!

Whoever you’re rooting for, and however you celebrate Super Bowl Sunday, I hope you have a great day with family and friends. May your crochet hooks never be lost in your couch cushions, and may the snacks never run out.
