50 Projects for 2026! Set your goal to reach your goal!

Do you mean on top of all the work you do for the Quiltalong and those amazing prize package bundles? Those are several hours of truly spectacular projects! Who needs a list?

Thank you for that! I’ve been feeling bad that I am so behind on the prize packs. I really appreciate your encouraging words!
I’m excited about the upcoming prize packs. I’ve already picked up supplies in anticipation. Now I just need to finish the 3rd quarter prizes so I can start on the 4th quarter prize pack!

I am curious where you get your inspiration to make such a bundle of related prizes! Does one idea lead to another? My goofy hair cow from the fundraiser makes me smile everyday. Such a silly thing, but we need silly in our lives!

Claiming my spot!

Last year, I hit __ projects (just over 107 in 2024). I have several larger projects on my list this year, but not build-a-giant-deck- or a huge-bookcase-sized. As of now, I am in a mood to focus on these as well as more whole-lotta-details type makes. Some of those are in my holdovers list below.

A few things I would like/should do in 2025 are (some are there from years past or are ongoing):

HOLDOVER PROJECTS

PRIORITIES
Modify deck dining chairs
New Draperies for living/dining room windows
New curtain for top of stairs
Nicho/shadowboxes/shrine ā€œblanksā€ to use up scrap wood
Jewelry Xmas Tree (flat or 3D?)
Seasonal typewriter pages
Amber’s Niece’s Quilt

BACKSEAT
Haunted Bathroom diorama
Coffee Table
C Crew pillows

You are a pillar of the community here and we appreciate you, @AIMR !

This year I want to try to crochet again!! Unfortunately I am a very tense person and somehow it comes out in my crocheting because it gets tighter and tighter until I can’t even get in there anymore! Let’s try again I guess.

I also want to try to learn to tat. I love tatted lace! Again, this is a daunting task for me since I just don’t do well working on this sort of craft.

I want to finish at least one unfinished project. Probably the kappa custom monster high doll I almost finished at least two years ago.

WIPs

Album cabinet doors
Boho painted side table
Kappa Monster High Doll
Mary Engelbreit Santa ornaments
Jester ornaments

Projects I want to do:

Dragon art doll for myself
Macrame ceiling fixture
Macrame owl
Crochet a chunky long pointy hat
Memorial Rugi felt doll
Some sort of larger outside holiday decoration in paper mache
Large paper mache monster
Something stained glass
Children’s pressed flowers fairy book

Paper mache and macrame! Can’t wait to see those!

Don’t give up on crochet. I find that I often have to just get up and walk around when I knit or crochet as my stitches either get too loose because I am getting tired or too tight because I am too intense. Listen to the clues your crochet is telling you.

I haven’t been able to throw away this WIP I’ve had for almost 2 years ish. I think as making a dinosaur bag, and I got to a part I just couldn’t understand.

I did give up on a diamond art kit…but I didn’t even start it so does that count? Lol

Oh, I also donated some of my yarn that I’ve been hoarding for awhile!

My house is such a disaster right now. When it gets this tend bad I tend to give away or throw away a lot of things. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

I’m terrible at tracking these things, but I’m hoping to find some time for quilting in 2026. I’ve got three big things planned:

  • Baby quilt for new baby niece (deadline end of Q1)
  • Spring themed quilt for me
  • Winter themed quilt also for me!

The winter themed quilt is from a pattern on the cover of a magazine from 2018. I remember buying the magazine specifically because of the quilt on the cover which wasn’t like anything I’d seen before. It’s using paper piecing which I haven’t done on this scale. The colours and prints are Christmas-ish (red, blue and tan, small leaf prints, plaid etc) but not really explicitly Christmas, so it can be used all winter.

Iā€˜m a bit reluctant about starting a list. There are lots of projects I’d love to do next year, but looking at this year’s list there are still many things I didn’t even start.

@tendstowardschaos I like your idea of listing general goals. Here are mine:

  1. Learn to play the flute (not exactly craft but something I wanted to do all my life)
  2. Take up quilting again (haven’t done it for 10 years and don’t know what kind of project I’d like to do first)
  3. Make good use of my newly acquired alcohol markers
  4. Large scale art for several rooms (might need to get a proper easel)
  5. Post more small projects (I tend to ignore posting all of my quick in-between crafts)
  6. More knit and crochet projects as on the go crafts
  7. Finalize everything that’s still related to my divorce (not crafts related, either, but it takes up so much time, energy and money, that it will be good to have it off my chest)

@AIMR W1 Question: I didn’t scrap any WIPs but with my cocktail dress I was able to use up some fabric that I bought about 15 years ago for a specific project that I never made. It was a good feeling using some old stash items to make something I really love.

I have one WIP that is about to be frogged. I bought yarn with no project in mind, thought I would make a shawl for a friend but couldn’t find a pattern - eventually found one but it doesn’t really make the yarn ā€˜shine’, so it’s been sat in a bag for ages, just hanging about.

Even removing one thing out of our brains is good! It will clear things for 2026. At least until it gets all muddled again!

My goal right now is to clean and clear out as many last minute projects as I can and do all the laundry before New Year’s Day (I know it is an old custom, but I like it so I don’t do any housework on New Year’s Day!).

Another one of my goals is to clear out my patterns. I have favorite go-to patterns that I like having handy, but my computer and my room is full of patterns that I might not ever make or that I made and will not repeat, etc. Time to cut up some scrap paper!

I know you are excited about having a niece and that you will find plenty of projects for the baby! If you have time to sew, my niece said the best things I ever made her were the bibs and burp cloths. She said babies are incredibly messy and having lots of those helped her out a lot. They were not so precious that she felt like she couldn’t use them. I made about 20 bibs and cloths for her so she didn’t have to wash all the time!

@manders might have some suggestions as well!

Ok, despite the wrist injury, there are two projects I just remembered I promised my older daughter I would do this year. She is planning to get married in 2027 and I promised to…

  1. Make her wedding dress using the dress I wore when I married her father (hopefully she has better luck with this dress than that marriage went).
  2. Make practice ā€œwoodland fairytaleā€ themed cakes so I can make the actual (gluten free) wedding cake too.

Number one requires acquiring said dress from my mother who had rescued it from my divorce rage.

Hopefully my wrist heals in time for these tasks.

ok, I better just play along…

WIP

  1. watercolor portrait of my DH
  2. revamping the upholstery wrap skirt I made this time last year
  3. finish fixing my sewing machine
  4. stack of pads for M
  5. go through basket of ancient WIP clothes and finish
  6. knit top
  7. turn monster granny squares into blanket for nephew
  8. finish patching/ mending/embroidering older jeans
  9. paper straw ornaments

New Projects

  1. M’s wedding dress
  2. Woodland Fairytale Cakes
  3. purple velvet top revamp
  4. grey pinstripe wool long skirt
  5. water jar cozy

This seems rather ambitious at the moment. We’ll see how it goes…

This year I let go of the crafty dream plan of a 24 count down Christmas calendar and i’m thissclose to letting go the idea of making a 12 days of Christmas one, too. We’ll see.

One thing-not a WiP- that i’m letting go of is over planning and under doing. Life is short, I don’t want to be at the pearly gates all ā€œohhh, I wish I had actually tried making that thing.ā€

I agree. I am adding less to my Pinterest boards and making more things by staying off line! I know myself well enough that I see shiny things and want to make it all, when in reality, I don’t really want or need the item! I am still going to do fun and goofy things, but plan them out better.

That being said, I need to add my knitted guinea pig to the list!

I’ve given them about half a dozen burp cloths already! Burp cloths are a quick and easy scrap project, so I’ve made loads of them over the years. They don’t take up much space, so in the past I’ve even made them in advance sometimes. I hope it’s going to be fun to be an aunt (my friends tell me it is! and I like kids generally) but I’m from a complex family background and not particularly close to any of my siblings. We get along fine when we see each other, but my siblings certainly aren’t my best friends or something. It’s absolutely a possibility the new arrival will bring tension. So I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that things will work out fine. If they don’t, I suppose I’ll just be auntie Imma they only see a few times a year and who sends handmade stuff for birthdays and Christmas.

@MamaRhi It’s such a nice thing to make your daughter’s wedding dress, but I hope it won’t be too emotionally draining for you to work with your own wedding dress. I imagine it’s an exceptionally beautiful dress or made from a very special fabric if she wants to wear it. Especially under the circumstances that your marriage ended up in divorce.

@AntBee Sounds like a sensible plan! I guess I could add ā€œdeclutter my whole lifeā€ to the list but I’m not sure how realistic it is.

My daughter is significantly taller than me and I was 5 months pregnant with her when I got married in this dress, so there’s going to be plenty of cutting involved. Taking scissors to this dress is exactly what my mom has been trying to prevent me from doing all these years. So, I think it will be therapeutic to finally be able to disassemble it and remake it into something for my daughter. She has been through plenty of trauma from her father and I think it might help her too. Plus it is an amazing linen fabric and she wanted a linen dress too.

Oh how I missed this place last few years, back and holding space her. My goal will be 25, 50 is a big stretch.
