As crafters we just can’t seem to resist the lure of Spooky Season. Every year we create countless Halloween treats to share with friends. Halloween quilts to snuggle under while watching scary movies. And we decorate our homes inside and out to delight the Trick or Treaters who will surely come our way. But one thing gets our imaginations going overtime for Halloween: COSTUMES! Even though they are likely to be worn just once, we go all out, crafting the most epic costumes we can for ourselves and our families. In fact, we Lettuce Crafters go so nuts, that this Round-up is twice the normal size! But that’s okay, I know you won’t mind. So let’s take a look at some of our members incredible costume creations!
And every once in awhile, those solo stars go the extra mile, creating costumes with added dimension. Creations I’m calling… 4-D Costumes Fireman in Truck by @AudiobookLover
I have a newly updated costume I wear to the ren faire AND for Halloween. Mostly hand sewn and with MANY parts to it. Headdress, dress bodice and skirt, partlet, shift, removable sleeves, over sleeves, and fore sleeves, girdle belt, zibellini, and fan. I just finished updating it last month. The picture is me at the ren faire in Shakopee, MN in the middle of September of this year.
Yay, Roundup! My son didn’t know that I had posted about his Creeper costume from last year. He inspected the photo and criticized the shoes he chose to wear
This year he wants to be a Protogen Furry, which I agreed after he described that he just wants a mask made and he’ll put the rest together. Well, how he explained it and what it looks like in photos are two different things.
I found a youtube video and associated pattern. I have assembled most of the necessary supplies for the mask and it should be… fun??? If it turns out well, y’all will see it.
My son wants to be Leonardo Da Vinci for Halloween. I’m wondering if I can just make it at home, the costume he showed me was almost $60 with shipping.
What a cool costume idea! Could be fun to put something together.
Store-bought costumes are super pricey. My girls love to go to Spirit Halloween and pick theirs out…$40+ each later… Part of me misses the days of making costumes, and part of me is grateful to have one less stressor this time of year.
